Your TMJ, or Temporal Mandibular Joint is popping. If you grind your teeth at night, it wears on the jaw. You should see your dentist. he may have you wear a mouth piece at night.

Well if I were you, since you're 15 years old, just tell your mom about it and ask her to schedule a doctors appointment for you. There's no harm in going to the doctor's, and hopefully you can get outta school for it, lol. Sometimes when I yawn my jaw locks up and the muscles underneath get really tight and it hurts like a ***** but goes away usually within 10 seconds. I've never worried about it myself. I just contribute it to a common muscle cramp, but in the jaw. Yours sounds a little more serious though, and I would just go to a doctor.

There is a jaw joint disorder called TMJ. Lots of people live just fine with it, but go to a dentist just to be safe.

Did you used to wear braces? It happens when the braces come off and there is no more pressure on your teeth so they pop & lock. Orthodontist don't tell you about this though.

It sounds like you have TMJ disorder. You should consult with a dental surgeon to see if therapy will help, or you may need surgery.
