:-) Thanks for the responces so far! I had just given my dog a bath and as soon as I opened the door to the bathroom, he took off! He does it everytime... I just thought it was funny and wanted to know if anyone elses dog did the same thing!

Silly animals! :-)

It's not just your dog. Mine does that too. He's not particularly fond of baths and getting dried. The minute we put him on the ground he runs out of the bathroom. He sprints around the house a couple times and goes for a toy immediately. He's pretty funny.

*laughs* No, my dog does that too. As soon as we put him on the floor after a bath, he takes off, slipping and sliding on the tile in the kitchen to get to the carpet in the family room. It's my favorite part of giving him a bath. :-) Dogs just don't like to get wet. It's a conditioned response. They want the water OFF. It makes sense, if you think about it. When they're wet, their fur can't keep them warm and it's much heavier. Plus, water in their ears (Or anything in their ears--my dog does the same thing after we put his ear medication in his ears) is an irritant. It also throws off their balance. That's why they drag their ears on the carpet.

I don't have an answer for you, but isn't it funny? Every dog I've ever owned has done this whether they love or hate taking a bath.

My dog does that too! I also think that is the best part of giving him a bath! It is so funny watching him dart back and forth slipping around with his tongue hanging out and ears flopping around, LOL!

No, It's not just your dog! It even happens to mine too.... My chihuahua Peanut, will scratch the floor with his hind leg and start running around the house like his tail is on fire. (He also looks like a drowned rat.) I think they are just trying to dry themself off. When they shake and play around, I think they are trying to have fun after the torture...

relax, my dog always does this, its because they think that you just washed off their scent...therefore they run around rubbing on things and just flat out running around...you can take advantage of them doing this, if you trow a towel over your dog while its doing this it'll dry itself, not completely, but mostly
