We have all but stoped camping and hiking since the twins were born. We went on a overnighter(my husband and I only) about three months ago, but thats been ut for almost two and a half years! Its time to get back on the ball...SO, my question is, what are the things you have found most helpful to bring, and what expectations did you discover had to be adjusted? My twins are a little over two now. I also have a 12 year old(not a concern, he has been camping/hiking many a time with us) We live in Arizona, much of our camping this year is going to be in the white mountains or the Sedona/Flagg area. Thanks in advance!

My daughter (4 y.o.) loves camping. Great for getting the kids involved. For me I:

keep a fully stocked 1st aid kit. My kids do their own stunts.

My daugther keeps a whistle on a string. If she gets seperated from us, she knows to blow that thing as loud as she can. I also give her one fo the wind up flashlights, she likes winding them and the batteries can be recharged.

Adequate clothing, shelter and comfortable sleeping bag. Kids are more vunerable to the elements.

Favorite toy, and little games/crayons, etc.

Plan activities that they enjoy. Fishing, collecting plants, watching birds, etc.

Introduce them to the idea of camping. We started camping in the living room, then out in the back yard, then the great outdoors.
