My friend, Sam, and I regularly get together at Starbucks, and have debates. His favorite to bring up is religion, because he is an Athiest. Keep in mind neither of us have any intention of convincing others, but we do like to debate about anything and everything- religion, poilitics, science, genetics has been a big one. Does anyone have any good perspectives I could use. Some less used answers, or some interesting points, evidence and the like- especially evidence, because we’re both “Show Me’s” and need to see it, and understand it before we believe it.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm Wiccan. If that helps. I've used the "Energy cant be destroyed" argument, boy did that one turn into a brawl, lol. I've used paranormal activity, that seems to be the door though. He cant debunk all of that, but that's not enough by itself. I'm not trying to convince him of a SPECIFIC afterlife, I just want him to accept the POSSIBLILITY.

Glad2b- Thanks for your input. :) I do study other religions, and I bring up those facts regularly. I'm mostly looking for unique perspectives on the subject.

There is a plethora of information on this site, in regards to Truth! (Not so much about institutionalized religion, but Truth!)

Whether or not you view this information as Truth, or can use this information is, of course, purely up to your own beliefs. =)

The energy can't be destroyed thing is one way you can win a debate with him. Energy can't be destroyed it is a proven scientific fact. Energy i.e. atomic particles are never destroyed (never have been) they are transformed into other forms of energy. For example, when you split a hydrogen atom to set off a nuclear explosion it doesn't destroy the hydrogen atom it transforms it into other forms of energy called the Strong nuclear force which is the explosion it's self and the weak nuclear force which is the radiation left after the explosion. Have you heard the term we are all made of stardust, that's what it means not that you are made directly from stardust but that all things in the universe are made from exploding stars. If you don't believe this just ask a physics teacher at your school or look it up on the internet

you have both passion and debating is a healthy one; but I advise that you should open your mind for other knowledge and therefore read books about religions because you can't just debate without learning the facts. Books will be able to give you a thorough information and then you both discuss it.

Go to the Christian Bookstore and look in the section of Christian Apologetics. Look for any of Josh McDowell's books, they are very good. They will explore all the recent scientific data that proves the bible to be historically accurate, along with other proofs.
