I think you may be looking at this one-sided, when it is really a paradox. If you believe, you would understand that these tenets are the embodiment of your belief. And, if you lived these tenets, you would understand you are living a belief. ;-)

Since when does this "difference" we must make have to be on a Grand scale? Isn't it easier to preach to the few who will listen, rather than trying to preach to the masses who won't?

No. It doesn't encompass the meaning of life. I think part of it is to make a difference while you are here. This is merely about loving & entertaining others. I don't think it is enough.

Entertain the idea that life has any meaning at all
Lie to others in order to get ahead
Invite hookers to your hotel room every weekend to party
Educate people about evolution
Vindicate those who get in your way
