Just face the music now!! It's much better to tell her than to wait for a progress report or report card. Tell her you accept full responsibility for goofing off. Be prepared for consequences, but I have a feeling she'll go much easier because you were honest. See if your teacher will assign you something for extra credit. Sounds like you need to talk to him/her , too, and get serious about your school work if you have plans for a successful future. Go ahead and develop a love for reading, at least a discipline to do so, if you ever hope to attend college. Better brush up on those grades, or you'll only have regret and yourself to blame that you couldn't get in. Growing up is a process; sounds like you're heading in the right direction. Best wishes.

Is she paying your tuition? Are you failing? Is she expecting you to get some sort of diploma or degree?
If yes, to any of those, you should fess up. If you have already graduated and/or are paying your own way through school, she does not need to know. Plus, if and when you get your diploma/degree nobody is later on going to ask what your mark was.
It is also different if it is a highschool or college diploma you are talking about. If at all posible make sure you get your HSD...it is hard in this day and age without it. HS is basically about showing up and being a little interested and unless you mess up big time they hand you your HSD.
From experience a gift or dinner will not help you mom, she is worried about your future and it might be wise to have plan B lined up...."Mom, I am not good at this course, but I am taking a course to be XYZ and I am really good at it and will make a great living doing it" something like that.
Good luck.

first try and figure out why your grades went down, then write her a note like

Mom I love you very much, (if you argue with her as many of us children did-say) I feel bad and am sorry I argued and didnt do my homework or whatever---and that I argued with you because now my grades have dropped very bad-it is really bothering me-I am doing better now-but I feel so bad.

then after a little while show her your report card

the most important thing is prayer--Jesus help me about my report card, and forgive my sins in my life, help me do better, and be my friend, come into my heart, amen.

that prayer is what helped me and helped me to start doing better-it comes from Revelation 3:19&20 if you cant look it up in the bible let me know by message and i will for you-it tells that Jesus loves you knocks on your heart door to come in forgive for sin and be your and my best friend.

will be praying for you princess, to be your best, David

no you don't have to take her out or buy her things. you just have to tell her the truth - that it happened - you got horrible marks. think of why you got bad grades and tell her. also tell yourself, and her, that you will try to do better, that you know she expects better and you feel terrible for not being the best student that you could be. even though she may not be happy with you, if you can calmly talk it out and really show her that you mean to do better and then go to it and get those better grades. you'll feel better about yourself and prove you meant what you said to your mom.
