If you want to wait until 6 months and plan to continue to nurse after that, I'd suggest introducing a soft-spout sippy cup (like Avent makes) instead of a bottle.

It is very hard, I can tell you that. I tried several times, but my baby wouldn't be satisfied with taking a bottle after exclusively breastfeeding. The only thing I found that worked is having someone else feed her while I wasn't around. If I was there, she refused to eat from a bottle, even if I was across the room. But if I was gone, and she was hungry she would grudgingly take the bottle. So my suggestion for you to start would be to have someone else feed him/her the bottle first...and make sure the baby is plenty hungry. Good luck!
