It's not continously running laps at practices. Depending on your event the workouts are broken up and are event specific depending on the phase of the training(early/conditioning season - speed work and competition season)
so for instance you may do 2 laps to warm up, then stretching, drills
sprinters may do a fartlek workout broken down into metres eg 5 X 350M- 4 X 200M - 3 X 150M- 2 x 100M- 1 X 50M
Hurdles will do different things, jumpers, throwers will do different things.
Distance may go for an hour run, doing hills etc

Just because you can run 9 or 10 laps that don't mean you might be good at track.

You need to find out which event you might be good at. Then practice for that event. Each event has different approaches to the type of training that you need to be competitive in that event.

How many laps you run depends on what event or what your coach wants you to run and I never heard of them making you run until you pass out. No coach that wants to stay employed would purposely do that to an athlete

it depends on ur coach. our coach usually changes it up.u might run 2 400m and then 3 200m and then 4 100m. and then 1 800m. a typical pratice is like this 4 us: we run a 800m, warm up then stretch and then we get into our groups and he tells us what he wants us to do and then we have a 200m cool down. but it depens if u r a sprinter like me or a distance runner or a long jumper or what ever. then he or she will try 2 have u focous most of ur pratice on tht.

However many your coach tells you. They will tell you in practice. If your going to run on a weekend or something ask yor coach what he/she thinks you should do.
