where can i find cheap souveniers on big island for friends or myself to bring back home.?

Definately ABC or Hilo Hattie, having said that there is a good selection of little shops on the front at Kona, so well worth a mooch through them as well.

Yep, the ABC stores have all kinds of souvenier stuff. Strings of freshwater pearls for cheap. 10 cents for a shell lei like they give away for free at Hilo Hatties, or at the Luaus. Bundles of pens or bottle openers with Hawaiian motifs. Macadamia nuts! Yum. Candles, soaps, creams with local flower scents. You can probably find it even cheaper at Costco as well.

You can get 5 t-shirts for $10 in some places. You can buy those paeros (fabric swimsuit cover ups) that sell on the Mainland for $25, for about $7 there.

Excellent question....Hilo Hatties is nice for a coffee cup but if you have friends, relatives, inlaws to buy for then the place you have to go is Walmart. I will give you a good example in Hilo there is the Mauna Loa Factory. Walmart was 1/3 the price as in the factory so it was a no brainer and it is cheaper than Hil Hatties. A friend gave me this tip years ago and it worked.

Hilo Hatties. They'll give you puka shell necklaces for free. Then you can buy beer with the $100

Hilo Hatties is probably the best. Walmart has a pretty good selection too

Costco has some of the basics. Otherwise I would go to Longs.

Wally Mart has some cheesy selections. Then there are the ABC stores too

go to the abc stores. there your best options and they are everywhere on the island.
