Just got mine within about three weeks, from applying for passport form to arrival by Securemail courier of passport.
Address already been given.
Do not waste £7.00 on post office checking service, form is simple enough to fill in without it being checked.

Collect the form from the Post Office, fill it out, get the back of your photos signed and hand deliver it to the nearest Passport Office (the address will be attached to the form). Get the staff to process it there and then - that way your supporting ESSENTIAL documentation will NOT get lost (as you have to got to show them your ORIGINAL Birth Certificate).
