For my daughter's first b-day we served chips and dip, and appetizers that adults like (it was mostly attended by adults). But for the kids I made "baby party mix" with animal crackers, goldfish, cheerios and other little baby snacks. And we had pink cupcakes.

May I suggest that you call your guests ahead of time and ask if their children have any allergies to foods. Also, while you have them on the phone, ask them what their child's favorite food and snack is. Make a list and then when you're done with all your calls, narrow down the list.
For the adults, salads, sandwiches, chips, soda, etc. are fine. You can also just make it a pizza party. Wait until all your guests arrive and then order the pizza. It will cost you about the same, but it will save you a lot of time and be less stressful. Good luck and may your daughter have a wonderful birthday.

For both of my kid's first birthdays we kept it small. Just do close friends and family. Keep it short and sweet, to the point. You really don't want to overwhelm her and don't do anything to huge because she really won't remember it. We also got little personal cakes from Walmart. They have some that have little to no added sugar. They were a little sweet but weren't a sugar overload for their little taste buds. Then it is special because they have their own little personal cake to dive into. Good luck!!

Fruit, veggies, and crackers. Maybe cheese for the adults. Try to make the dips dairy free just in case.

Soft and squishy foods. Chicken fingers, fruit snacks are good for small children. Fruit snacks work well.
