A battle of two of the classiest fighters in the division. Two very busy active boxers, who could take a punch. Robinson had the edge in power, but it would be a tough physical contest they were both brave men.
I'd go for Ray Robinson but I lived in the 1970's and I liked Carlos Monzon.
Close call Robinson by decision in a hard fought contest.

Great match. This would be a classic. Both men punch hard and they fought smartly. Sugar Ray would have the edge in speed defense, and stamina. Monzon would have a slight edge in power.
In the early rounds, I see Robinson circling on Monzon, trying to outbox him. In the middle rounds, Monzon will probably take over and have his moments. In the final rounds, I think Monzon will be leading the scorecards slightly. I see Robinson, taking the final rounds with a masterpiece. He was famous for his last-minute rallies. I expect him to do just that. Ultimately, I see Robinson is winning a split decision.

Great fight, but as good as Monzon was, he was not in the class of Sugar Ray Robinson. A stand up puncher, even with the reach and skill of a Monzon wouldn't have beat Ray's foot and hand speed. Monzon's chin and heart would keep him in it to the end, but he simply couldn't have out boxed Robinson.
Sugar Ray by decision.

Evenly matched in all areas except speed. Robinson would dominate in that area landing more punches each round. Robinson by decision in a close fight.
