The worker on my case kept saying that there were things wrong with my paper work. For example, doctor didn't put the date on a paper, I was missing my tb shot in one, etc. I would fix the paper work and send it back to him. He was suppose to come out and check out my house. He never showed up. I left him a voice mail. He never got back to me. Keep in mind that it's been over a year since and today out of the blue, he calls me and asks me to send him a copy of my recent physical and that he will mail me some paper work and that once I fill them out and send them to him, that he could come and check out my home in 2 weeks. He sounded frustrated as he was talkng to me. Does anyone have a home child daycare and did you go through the same thing? Does it really take this long or is it that I'm stuck with a worker who isn't doing his job?

Most places are stuck not so much with bad case workers, but with a bad system that is underfunded and understaffed.

Polite persistance with the attitude of 'just seeing if there is anything I can do to help', or an occasional visit with cookies helps a lot.

Remember- in almost any job, people do more for people they like. People who annoy them tend to get shuffled, delayed, etc. even more than the usual inefficient system will!

It sounds like to me you have a bad worker. Yes, paperwork must be complete and exact. But by the way it sounds it seems that you have a procrastinating worker that doesn't feel like doing his job. I would call and request to speak to someone that is above him and explain the situation and ask why things are taking so long and that you have done everything that has been asked of you and would like to know when someone will come to inspect your home. If things have taken longer than usual, maybe you will get better results by asking the supervisor for a new worker.

I'd ask for a different case worker. I'd be speaking with his boss and complain about the way you've been treated and how long it is taking.
My mom runs a daycare out of her house. She tried to do the whole license thing and ran into the same problems you have, so she gave up. She still watches kids out of her home, mostly family. Right now she has about 5 kids but in the summer her count goes up to like 10 -15 kids. It's illegal but it's also a job.

Sounds like you have a sucky monitor. Call the dept., complain and ask for a new one.
