Okay, the infrared is doable, but a DVD camera that does 880-1200x digital zoom? Are you out of your mind? The quality would be so horrible that you couldn't even tell what you were shooting, even if it was able to see in the dark. I mean there are cameras out there that can do 880-1200x digital zoom, but it's not something you'd want to use up to the full range, and even if it doesn't have digital zoom, it can be added using an editing program. And if you want that kind of quality, you'd better be using something better than MPEG-2. My recommendation for you is to get a sony miniDV camera with infrared recording, and then buy a telephoto lens, and if that isn't good enough, add zoom in an editing program. Another option would be to take apart an old camera and take out the IR filter in front of the CCD, but considering how old the camera was, you probably wouldn't want to do anything digital zoom on it. Just remember, lay off the digital zoom. And if you have to, use a telephoto adapter. And if that isn't good enough, zooming with your feet is the best zoom you've got. Hope this helps!

hi "Caseman": even inspite of the actuality that you overlooked to specify precisely which Everio form you've (there are various of GZ-series fashions), i visit guarantee that none of them have a "evening mode" (InfraRed) putting such as what Sony NightShot fashions have. yet exceedingly a lot all CCD video sensors practice IR sensitivity, and see you later as IR-blockading filters are not used in the digicam's layout (some IR gentle always shows via filters), then you definately will discover that your JVC may function below IR illumination. For searching pictures at any respectable distance, you may no longer discover IR LED resources that are effective adequate to do any sturdy. (you may do your human being speedy attempt by ability of shining a television distant's IR emitter at your camcorder and observing the "invisible" beam look on your liquid crystal exhibit exhibit.) i'd submit a link or 2 of others' YouTube demos of their JVC cams with IR flashlights, yet like I suggested, none practice a lot variety or IR sensitivity. desire this helps, --Dennis C.

Most Sony cameras fit that requirement. They are 0 Lux, which indicates they are IR not image amplifiers (which need at leat 1 lux)
