He's good natured in the morning, but when my mom gets home, you can't go near him, even though i've been in the same house since he came to live with us

Get the help of a private trainer. Aggression is serious and needs an experienced eye to be corrected. Your vet or animal shelter should be able to refer you, or go to www.apdt.com.

What's the chihuahua doing?, how does he misbehave?,does he bark?, is he agressive towards everybody except your mom?, is he antisocial and just doesn't want to hang out with anybody because your mom is around?. It might be a territorial thing that HAS to stop, he is not the boss, you guys are, so get serious in your training, there are tons of sites online to fix any behavior problem your dog might have.

he (the CHIHUAHUA) SEEMS TO BE ATTACHED TO MOM MORE THAN YOU . try this, before mom comes home take him for a walk and let him play a while with you then let him see mom either let him sleep with you or give him something of yours to sleep with a t- shirt that you have worn but not washed works great and if he is getting aggressive when mom gets home she needs to scold him when he is being inappropriate

It sounds like he is protecting your Mom and sees her as Alpha. When we had the same problem with a puppy and my Husband our Vet said to be sure to allow my Husband to feed him and give treats not just me. Have you tried that? Good luck.
