According to the Customs and Border Patrol website http://www.cbp.gov/ you are allowed to bring some cheeses into the United States. You can get all of the information needed at their site.

Why no cheese in USA? Tell your friend to buy it from there. Look in some especiality shop if they cannot find the brand from the supermarket. Frankly, I hate carrying foodstuff for anybody.

I don't know if you can take cheese, but I'd say just leave all the food at home. We quit bringing food across the border because all the good stuff got taken away and thrown in the trash can. stupid idiots.

Reading through this (from the first website), it seems that you can carry cheese into the States: 'U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations prohibit tourists from bringing fresh, dried, and canned meats and meat products from most foreign countries. If any meat is used in preparing a product, it is prohibited. Bakery items and all cured cheeses are admissible. .........Please check the Department of Agriculture's list of approved products! ' (2nd website - though cheese isn't shown on there!).

Yes, bring lots of cheese. We also like you to bring live plants and animals as well. Oh, and make sure you bring some Euros because our economy is going to hell in a hand basket.

You can take anything that isn't grown that might have a dease it. Cheese should be OK just tell them you don't have any food you should be OK. That's what i do when i get back from Mexico. They don't check you if its in your checked luggage. Dont take it as carry-on.

Call the airline, find out. I agree, as long as it is not produce, or seeds, you're in the clear. I've taken Home Made cookies, TAMALES, cans of Jalapeños, enchilada sauce and salsa to my sister in the UK and I have made it through customs no biggie.
He he he, I'm the Mexican smuggler, LOL!!!!!
