I kinda know where you are coming from- but it isnt just small towns- it is everywhere. We do live in a small town and my husband has been to Iraq 3 times

Another thing you have got to look at it is this:

A lot of people in small towns join the military- expecially if that community doesnt have very many jobs/ careers. Therefore, in bigger citiers where there are more jobs with better pay, leaving less to join the military (learned this in a Sociology class). Even so, they know the consequences of joining.

It is fair. Think really hard about this question; the answer lies somewhere in the fact that most people in big cities are educated and most people in small towns are not. Also the cities that were attacked were not attacked by Iraq (what do you know?) And with the fact that smaller towns have populations that are less educated they also have greater economic need (or a strong desire to get out of the town you will live and die in) so they enlist and then there is just plain ol ignorance of the whole picture. Are you looking for a draft? not the most intelligent alternative to fighting an unjust war...and where is Osama bin Laden?

You have got to be kidding. It depends how you define small towns, but the statement is not true. You need to look at the number of people from cities and small towns in a per capita comparison. You don't hear about the ones in bigger cities because there are so many more people in large cities but in small communities everyone knows each other.

You may be right and there may be more coming from the smaller towns but that would be because larger cities are more liberal than small towns and liberals don't tend to join the service. 80% of the military votes republican, and republicans are more likely to come from smaller communites.

Could you provide your source for your information? I live in a city of over 500,000 and we have a lot of men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Oh, you made UP your information. Wow! You could get a job with the media!

That doesn't make any sense. What are you talking about? Surely you don't personally know everyone "fightening" the war and what size town they are from.

There are more people in rural towns and small towns than there are in major cities. The higher percentage of them means a higher percentage of them heading to war.
Besides... You sign up for the military.

Because people in the rural areas are more gullible when it comes to the propaganda put out by the White House, media etc...
