After 2 storms within the past week there are plenty of mosquitoes in our backyard, the grass in the backyard is a lil longer and may need cutting but I can't cut it right now since the grass is wet...Is the grass helping the mosquitoes?

I agree with the suggestions above - the most important thing is to get rid of any standing water. Furthermore, you might like to try to burn some outdoor candles fragranced with citronella. This is a natural mosquito repellent. It won't work if you don't get rid of the water first, but it might work afterwards.

Obviously you have to supervise the candles carefully, especially if you have kids or pets, and don't leave them burning if you go inside.

Don't worry about it. Mosquitos are natural part of the ecosystem. Don't use chemicals, it destroys the environment. Don't cut your grass. Grass absorbes greenhouse gasses and lawnmowers emit them. Cutting your grass will melt the polar ice and drown you and your mosquitoes.

empty anything that is holding still water.
like if you have a bucket thats full of water, of if you have a tire swing that got water inside...
still, shallow water is prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
