Im 39wks and I have been getting intense contractions about 7-10min. apart. This is my 1st so I dont really know what to expect, so im totally freaked out. I called my midwife to tell her whats been going on & she said to call her back when they were about 2 min. apart. Any ideas to speed things up or maybe help to calm me down??

I've never heard of waiting until 2 mintues apart. I would go to the hospital (if you are have the birth there) and get checked out. I always had that fear of giving birth in the car LOL. Take some deep breaths--you'll be fine. Call your midwife back and tell her your feeling very anxious, she should do what she can to help you-that's her job.
Don't worry about speeding things up--babies come when they are ready.

start walking. The walking will make the contractors speed up. And they say that sex does too. To slow them down the only thing i can think of is just to calm down and lay down. When girls go into labor too early they always seem to put them on bed rest and tell them to get up as little as possible. Good luck!!!

Oh my goodness! Are you going to the hospital, or home birthing, because you really should probably be headed there, if you are going to go. I'm sorry, this probably didn't calm you down, but everything I've heard says that when they are 10 min. apart, you should be heading out the door.

Just stay clam, breath and listen to your midwife... you have already waited 39 weeks.... the last few hours can be the hardest and often the longest. I would keep busy around the house.... and get someone overthere to be with you. and Good Luck, New Mommy!

have a good curry or caster oil and orange juice apparently these help speed things up.
You may find that u are only having branston hicks and the baby wont be here for a few more weeks.
