iam in the process of trying to find photographs of my great grandfather killed on the somme in 1916 i have his army number and regiment any ideas would be greatly appreciated

There were at least two allied countries that I know of who were involved in the battle of the Somme, Canada and the UK. If you are from the UK, then the legion is a great place to start. They can at least guide you to the proper authorities or archives. If you are from Canada, then write to the Government of Canada, War Archives, Ottawa, Canada

Try going through the British legion.
