Don't know if its just coincidence but I used to play basketball as a teen, At international level infact, it involved a hell of alot of training, I would train a good 4 hrs a day during the week and 8 hours on both Saturday and Sunday.

Anyway I fell into the wrong crowd and eventually gave up on Basketball, that was 7 or 8 years ago, and haven't done any exercise since, but since then I have had all sorts of mental trouble, something I never had in the past, I've had Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, you get the idea.

So whats your thoughts, is it just coincidence

I think you are correct generally. In my case, however, exercise enough was not enough to stave off the deep depression I was going into.

Another part of it, besides the exercise is that you were doing something you enjoyed which also helps one mentally.
