at least a month - all my main vacations for the last 6 years have been either a month or 5 or 6 weeks ...
You can't see much of a country in 2 or 3 weeks...
Of course, when I've got €18,000 I'm off on my gap year backpacking for a whole year...

If I could afford it? About 3 months of the year at least. In actuality, I probably only get to spend 1 1/2 - 2 weeks a year truly on "holiday" - more time off from work if recognized holidays are taken off like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc.
Good Luck!

I usually go to Sydney,Australia twice a year for 5 weeks each time but thats only because i still have family who live out there.I think 2 or 3 weeks is enough for most holidays.
