Walking is always great. 20-30 a min a day and you will start to see results in about 2 weeks. Dancing is great too or you can get a body wrap. Body wraps are expensive but they work!

Sorry to say but it is impossible to "trim fat" from a specific body area. The only way that you can reduce fat in those areas is to reduce your overall body fat percentage. Training the muscles in those areas will firm up the muscle beneath the fat which may make the thighs appear less fatty, but the same amount of fat will still be there unless you lower your body fat percentage.

With that said, some good leg exercises:

Lunges: Take some weights (or books if you don't have any weights) in both hands. Step forward with one leg as though you were taking a long step forward and touch the ground with the knee of your back leg. Switch sides and repeat for 12-15 reps on each leg. Do two to three sets.

Step ups: Using same weights, step up and down onto a chair/bench/wall alternating the leg you use to propel you up. Same reps/sets as lunges.

Squats: using same weights. bend in place and try to create a 90 degree angle at your knees (i.e. your upper thigh should be parallel to the floor). Don't try to go beyond this (you risk knee damage).

Leg lifts: Lie on your side and lift your top leg up slightly, hold, and go back down.

Leg crunches: get a medicine ball (or other workout ball), place in between knees and squeeze.

Hope these help.

You can build muscle by regular exercise (daily 10-15 minutes where you break a sweat) and resistance training (2-3 times a week focused on the areas you want to strengthen) - an elliptical machine is great as there is very little impact and less risk of injury. You cannot - repeat cannot - spot reduce. You CAN get all-over results very quickly by implementing the above routine... Good luck!

Any leg exercises that target those muscles will help. Women have the added problem that the type of fat stored in that part of the body is put there as a store for breast feeding. IF you are going to have a child in the near future.....breast feed the baby AND exercise that part of your body. You will mobilize the fat stores much quicker that way.

Had large thighs all my life, yet when I lived in an up-stairs apartment, running those two flights of stairs each day , less than a month I noticed my legs where thinner than they had ever been.
