You know, I think the best thing would be just to find one that has the features you like. Most of the brands have guarentees and they should all hold up well and do the job.

In my case, I got a real nice heavy duty one and wished I had gotten one a little smaller since it took up the majority of one of my spare bedrooms. Mine went up to 7 mph, which was a waste for me; I cannot run that fast. So my best advice is to find one that is the size you want and has the features you want.

I enjoyed my treadmill much more than any other exercise equipment I have purchased over the years. So have fun.

If you really want to spend the money for a machine instead of just getting out in the fresh air and going for a walk, see if you can find a treadmill WITHOUT a motor, one that is powered by your own energy alone. This type helps you accomplish two things: it will help you burn calories, AND it helps you strengthen, tone, and build up endurance in your leg muscles. The ones with motors mainly help you burn calories, but not much of the other, because all you're doing is trying to keep up with the machine. The ones without motors (usually they have one or two flywheels to help keep the pace steady) are much cheaper to buy than the ones with motors, and don't cost anything to operate .
