Or did the adopted baby (now grown) acquire them independently of this.

No, allergies are created from an individuals own immune system and even though families sometimes share the same allergies they are not passed to one another. So even if the adoptive mother was a wet nurse/ lactating and breastfeed her new baby the allergies didn't come from mom.

I personally asked the question and am a bit disappointed in the answers. I gave birth to a son in 1978-- nursed him until he was a year old. --then adopted our daughter in 1984. It was a very natural process to re-lactate
I was able to nurse her as well as establish a bond that still exists today. She is now 22 years old. So, the individuals that said no- no-no--not even possible to nurse--let alone pass on allergies--wrong. Actually my pedatrician coached me along this path--He felt it was the most valuable opportunity to bond with her. She fought it at first but eventually settled down and suckled like a newborn usually does. She was 6 weeks old--so It shows you that God willing it can be done.

If she adopted the baby, she would not be able to nurse him/her. The ability to produce milk occurs only after the birth of your biological child. The woman gives birth, then her body produces milk to feed that baby.

If an adopted child acquires allergies, it is due to something other than what he/she was fed as an infant.

No the baby can't even catch a cold from breastfeeding, much less something like allergies!

No. If there is any allergy with them, it will be their body issues. Their own immune system does not agree to certain stuffs. No relation with her guardians or whoever takes care of them. It is not like infection, you know.
