I just want to say how sorry I am. I have a 15-year old cat right now with cancer. I'm having to give him 2 IV's a day for a while to see if it helps since he's dehydrated, but I realize its only putting off the inevitable. It's a horrible thing to have to put IV's in your cat every day, though he's being a very good boy about it, I'm not doing so good with it. I think its a good idea to wait till Saturday, that gives you time to say goodbye and as long as shes not suffering, don't let anyone make you feel bad for it. As far as getting her high, I don't know, but someone did that to my dog a few days before she was to be put to sleep, and she started running like a puppy around the yard. I had no idea why she was doing it, didn't find out about the pot till later. I don't condone it, but then, it did make her feel pretty darn good, so most certainly am not angry about it. That was the most painfree that poor old dog had been for years, seemed to have really done magic with her arthritis. The person who did it loved her and just wanted her to be pain free, which I totally understand, and it worked, so hey, this is totally up to you. I don't know how it was done, he took her into the bathroom with him, so I didn't actually see it (would have probably flipped out anyway), and I don't know if its the same with cats, but pot is suppose to make it easier for people going thru chemo and stuff, so it might just help her.
I think there are quite a few people answering this who are not comprehending the question. He's not trying to get his cat high, he's trying to ease the nausea caused by the chemo and the other medications. To simplify: The meds she's on are making her sick to her stomach. Pot actually helps that particular situation.

I think that I would just hold and cuddle her as much as i could for the next few days and forget about the smoke. If it's like you say and she is not in any pain, I would just love her to pieces . By the way..I hope that when you do put her down, you will hod her, and stroke her and tell her how much you love her and how much she has meant to you over the years, and your vet will give her a shot to relax her, and then the final shot where she will just go to kitty heaven. It's not the easiest thing to do..but you will have peace of mind that you did this for her. We do this for our cats and it really does help to ease the pain, believe it or not. You have my deepest respect, you have tried everything that you could do, and now you can give her peace.

You know what?, I think you should seriously go ahead and ask the vet, you should tell him you are serious about this, you want to make your cat feel better. I don't know why people get so worked up about marihuana, it's a drug, it's a marvelous drug for people who are suffering. I have read that marihuana is really bad for our pets when ingested which is not the case, so go ahead and give your vet a serious, private call.
You shouldn't go ahead and try it because in this forum nobody really knows how the cat will feel she might get anxious instead of high, with normal anesthesia cats get drunk not sleepy, so who best than the vet to tell you?.

I'm sorry about your inpending loss. If your cat is already under vet prescribed medication and is not in pain, just leave her alone to rest. I'm sure the medication is strong enough to not let your cat feel anything at all, and any additional drug will not help at all, but could make it worse.
By the way, getting high and equating it with pleasure is a human and learned emotion. For an animal, perhaps, it is no different from losing balance or having a massive confusion.

actually blow the smoke at her face, and just do a little bit. It will make her quieter for a while or act weird, but it is a short term relief. It is more for pain and nausea than anything.
Since she is close to her end (very sorry btw) you do not have to worry about the brain damage that is associated with it in cats. My roommate got her cat high way too much and it now has serious brain damage.

Ive heard that too, from many people, that blowing the smoke in their ears will get them higher. It has something to do with them having more sensors in their ears than anywhere else. And I would guess that getting it high in its last days will help it relax since weed is a natural depressant. Your cat will be chill and enjoy its final days. Sorry about your cat by the way.

I think the best thing you can do for your cat is to hold her and cuddle her all you can. Let her know she is loved right up to her last minute. I am sorry you will be losing your cat. Smoke all you want to get over your pain, but love your cat all you can while you still can.. Excuse me, but now I have to go find a hanky.

Cats are not people. What works for people, what's good for people, what really won't hurt people that much can kill a cat outright. Leave your cat alone or get it put to sleep if it is suffering.
Oh, and it doesn't fight cancer in people. It alleviates pain and some of the side effects of treatment.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat and for the insensitive comments from some of the users here. Although it may help, don't you want her to be the Shpunk you've always known and loved in her final days? She might freak out and fear you, she may not be herself after that.
Also, to the users who respond to your question, yet condemn you for your decision,SHAME ON YOU!!

I seriously doubt your cat will enjoy smoke being blown at her regardless of the orifice.
The best thing you can do for her is to comfort her as much as possible. I'm sure she probably enjoys being in your lap and having you stroke her.
I'm very sorry for your kitty and for your loss........... :(
