My kids are the same ages as yours:)
My daughter is 5 and doesn't want any part of a nap. If she is super tired she may lay down and watch a movie but that's about all.
My son I tell him "rest time" and I will put him in his room and most of the time he will play with his blocks or reads his books and I am fine with that. At least he is resting and having some down time. If I didnt put him in his room he would "run" all day. And would be impossible by dinner time.
Good luck!

Well I have a 7 year old and sometimes on the weekends she asks if she can take a nap because she is tired. And I will let her. But then during the week I don't think she takes one. My Mother-In-Law watches my 2 kids for me. I also have a 8 month old boy. So of course he sleeps during the day.
But when the two were in an actual daycare the babysitter would at least make them lay down and rest and she would turn all of the lights off in the room they were in and make them just lay there if they didn't want to go to sleep.
Just like another person had said some schools have nap time for Kindergarten. I know my daughter did last year in her class.

My son is 3 and hardly ever takes a nap. He will not go to sleep. If he does take a nap- he stays up half the night. Bedtime is always 8:30-9:00, so I have tried waking him up earlier in the morning, so that he will take a nap midday(1:00) so that I can get some things accomplished. He is usually ok if he doesn't take a nap-and will even stay up late anyway! Sometimes I think that he is just a nightowl! When I was in Kindergarden-we had naptime-but I never went to sleep! Only like 2 kids would go to sleep. It just depends on the kid-how early they get up-how active they are. Sometimes they need one, sometimes they don't! Use your motherly instict!!!

Depends on the child. A child that is in preschool or daycare normally need a nap till they are at least 5. They use a ton of energy playing all day.
A child that is home with a SAHM doesn't normally need as much sleep. They don't use as much energy during the day. They spend more time watching television and playing quietly. They also get to wake up when they are ready not to be at school by a certain time.
At 2.5 I think he needs a nap. Most children don't like to nap. You can't make him sleep but you can make him lie on his bed quietly, eyes closed, for a certain amount of time.

Now you have to get him used to a new routine. Patience. Lie down with him, say it's time for a nap. Maybe let him have one toy for a while, then thell him the toy needs to take a nap. Once the toy is asleep, he might follow suit.

Remember, not EVERY child is the same!
My oldest stopped taking naps as soon as I put him in a youth bed. His younger sister and brother took naps up until they were 5.

Every child has its own personal needs...if you think your child needs to continue having naps, then they should. If you think that the naps are no longer beneficial, then maybe they don't need them anymore.
You know your child(ren) better than any of us here on this forum, so you should be the judge of how old is too old for a nap. :)

every kid is different in what they need... kids still get naps in some kindergardens so I would say 6 years old, but if they still need naps and sleep through the night there shouldnt be an age limit on it.

How can you be too old for naps. Look at how many seniors take naps.
