I feed my female dog twice a day yet she still begs for food and everytime I bring her out, she digs for food and bones!

It may also be the kind of dog food you are feeding her. Alot of the cheapy brands are alot of filler and basically just go right through them.

Not only does this cost you, but it could cause your dog to become overweight.

Investing a little more money into a better dog food can actually save you a ton of money in the long run because they won't need to eat as much to get full.

Now, it is true...a dog will be a dog and if you have food in their sight, they are probably going to want it. ESPECIALLY people food :)

Try Booda bones or a Kong filled with chopped up carrots and sealed with peanut butter. Sounds weird, but they love it and it will keep her busy for a while :)

Good luck!

I have a rescue who is very much like this. She was half starved when she showed up at the pound from being on her own. We've only had her a few weeks now and we have to be constantly vigilant so she isn't on the counters or in the trash. Some dogs have security issues with food, some dogs are like that with know real explanation. Also, if you give her food when she behaves in that way you are reinforcing the behavior.

Dogs always beg for food! Find out if you are giving her the right amount of food. Otherwise just tell her no!

I would talk with your vet. I have a female lab and she gets 6cups a day of dry food and she only eats it when she is hungry. Maybe it is the bread of your dog?

I am on a few doggie nutrition lists, the best to me is K9 kitchen@yahoo If you were to join this list it is a question you could ask and get much help. It maybe what your feeding isn't able to satisfy her maybe empty calories just as we eat junk food?

some dogs think they have to eat as much as possible whenever food is around incase they might miss a meal. If she was pushed around by her litter mates as a puppy then thats probably where she picked this up.

Dogs instincts are still geared toward having to hunt down dinner or scrounge it up. If there is food around, they eat it because you never know if it'll be two weeks before you catch something else.......

How old is she? If she was young, it must be nothing.

Young dogs are really eager to eat food.

Does she happen to be a Beagle? Beagles are known for their gluttonous behavior. If not, you may want to have her checked out at the vet, she may have a tape worm.
