If I get my puppy in the summer and stay with him all summer and then go to school from 8-4 can I leave him inside in my kitchen with toys, food, water and a place to use the washroom?

It really depends on the temperment of the dog. My puppy took a while to get used to staying by himself, but he eventually adapted. You never know what you're going to find when you come home, so be careful about what you leave in the room with him...make sure any toys are indestructable, as if he can rip one apart, he might eat the insides and get sick. Be prepared for him to pee/poop on the floor, as he might do that when stressed out by being home alone. I would make sure that the kitchen is closed off so that he can't wander the house...finally, you might consider getting him VERY tired out before leaving him, at least for the first few weeks. As much as it might pain you to get up that early, take him for a long walk right before you leave the house. That way he'll be relaxed, tired, and probably not as inclined to make a fuss.

You can although I would suggest crating him. I would do this as soon as you get your puppy at night and when you are not going to be home. Everyone knows that you can't be with your puppy 24/7 and that's understandable. Crating your puppy will give him or her a safe place to be for him and for you too.

I think you can.. as long as he has toys to keep himself occupied then I don't think he should destroy everything.. if that doesn't work, you could put up a small pen for him outside
