When I receive a message with HTML images and formatting into my Outlook 2003 inbox, everything appears as it should. When I forward this message to another Outlook 2003 user within the company walls, selective images disappear.

That is to say, my message will be an HTML message with a header image and images down the right side. Only the header will appear after forwarding.

Regular HTML code will turn into a Microsoft Word "translation" of the code — but most of it will still display correctly. Seemingly random IMG tags are removed.

I know there's not a lot of details to go on or specific examples visible, but if anyone's had a similar problem, please let me know how you went about fixing it. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. Further info: I've been assured that both versions are running off of the same imaged computer (that's as best as I can describe it) — and the email viewing and security settings are all the same, too...controlled by our network admin. So, technically, all viewing preferences should be the same.

Examination of the source code exposes places where Outlook has shifted HTML tags around and renamed others to comply with whatever standards that it wants to comply with.

I can match up code between the two fairly closely (I'll try put the actual code comparison on here) and tags like [A HREF] and [P] match up together. Outlook matches [STRONG] tags, but adds [B] inside it too. They add their proprietary [o:p] [/o:p] tags and add [STYLE] tags to keep visualization consistent since the format is no longer global within the email once the content is inline. What's weird is that inside the [A HREF], some of the [IMG] tags are deleted—but not all of them.

The real test would be to make certain both are the very same version of Outlook with the same service pack. Then you would need to check that persons mail view settings and Internet options. All this can play a role in how an HTML email is viewed

Open Tools|Options|Mail Format and make your changes.
Choose HTML for Outgoing Mail.
You probably should also change Internet Format and check the HTML options.
Hope this helps.
