Well SATAN is simply an adversary in Hebrew and in the Old Testament. And can even be reffered to speaking of a person who works in the heavenly courts of God or a human being or even an object that could be considered a stumbling block.
However, during the intertestamental period the development of a person who is the head demon over a place for those who are not God's in the afterlife began developing and many Rabbis began writing about such a creature.
The Old Testament does not speak of heaven and hell but only of the grave or shoel a place for souls, whether good or bad. However, once again during the intertestamental period due to the Hellenistic influnce on the Jewish faith (and some believe this was led by God) they began talking about or understanding a dualistic nature to the afterlife A place for those who belong to God and a seperate place for those who do not belong to God.

Satan...more correctly 'the satan'...is an angel of God who works at God's behest. Its job is to test mankind. Unfortunately, it is far too successful.
Hell, in the Christian sense, doesn't exist in Judaism. Rather, a soul of one who has sinned goes through a cleansing process before taking their place in the world to come. Hell can be defined, in Jewish thought, as distance from God. One who has done little good in this world will find themselves far from the source of all life in the next....in other words, pure hell. For the worst of the unrepented worst, God holds out a very special punishment....that is, after subjecting that soul to its just punishment, it is simply snuffed out of all existence.

Satan and hell are unrelated in Judaism, and not the same at all as in any other religion... But don't take my word for it, look it up, do the research..

Satan is "opponent" in Hebrew. Sorry, I cannot exactly answer your question, I just thought I might throw in that tid-bit.
