Good question, but a bit difficult to answer. The physical addictive with-drawl, which includes anxiety, shaking, and intense craving can last for several days. The craving will last for a couple of weeks or longer. There will be times when it will hit you with a great deal of intensity. The magic number is about six weeks. If you can go for six weeks, you can do it. Don't be afraid to get some help. Some medications can help. In my experience, it is one of the most difficult addictions to beat.

It is very hard. I quit 11 years ago and it was the best thing I did for my health. The first 3 days is the hardest, once you;ve made 3 days and your mind is set you can do it. I always had water by me or something to drink. When on the phone I would doodle on paper. Cold turkey is hard. You could get the patch, I used it for about 2 weeks, then I forgot to put it on after a shower one day and haven't smoked.
So keep up the good work and don't be tempted just keep saying in your mind I am a non-smoker

5-7 days for the nicotine to leave your body totally. After that the cravings are psychological. I've heard it takes 30 days to break a habit and 30 days to gain a habit.

Some people get severely constipated when they quit smoking so be aware of that. Exercise and carry around a water bottle everywhere to keep your mind off the cigarettes and keep your endorphin levels high.

Good luck - you can do this. 30 days to a new life!
