Well there are a few things that you can do. One is really watch your posture. When sitting put your hips as far back in the chair as possible and roll up a small towel and put the towel at the small of your back when you are going to be sitting for long periods of time. Also I recommend that you go to an imaging center for either an X-Ray or Lumbar Spine MRI to see if you have any disc and nerve related issues. If you have anything wrong you have to get it treated as quickly as possible or else it will get worse. If you don't have any disc related issues then work on strengthening your lower back muscles so that they can support your lower back more. Also watch your posture while standing as well. Don't overwork your body and listen to it. If you start to have pain then take frequent breaks and ice it for 15-20 min sessions. Also you can go to a back store and get a muscle stimulator to bring newer blood to your back area. Ice on top will help to reduce any inflammation you might have. GOOD LUCK

If we're talking about chronic back pain you've likely tried a lot of different things, maybe on your own. You need to get into a chronic pain program through your doctors office.
As someone else mentioned, there are many possible underlying reasons for back pain so there's no one, easy answer.
You may find physical therapy helps, you may find that reducing stress and anxiety helps, you may find that changing your nutrition habits does the trick and you may simply require medication as a way to minimize the pain that isn't easily removed.
I've tried all sorts of things. Physical therapy, acupuncture, chiroprator, excercise, stretching, diet...and unfortunetly none of them has helped. Personally I'd avoid the chiropractor...it only made my back worse and I don't have much faith in them. It seems like they use the same "adjustment" for whatever ails you. It feels nice when they're doing it but doesn't fix the problem. Just my opinion.

I was pain free because of proper diet and exercise and taking Vitamins and Omega 3-6-9. Drink lots of water watch your stress levels. Go for long walks and feel good about yourself. I was pain and medication free for about 2 years. And I was feeling good. GOOD LUCK!
Then I had a car accident and have been suffering ever since. It's hard to get back into the proper routines the pain is more intense and in more places. The fact that I'm older doesn't help either.

It depends on what the underlying cause of your back pain is from. If you are able to go to a chiropractor who has a massage therapist on staff, they can educate you on how to care for your back and body. They can develop a program of care for you that will get you back into shape.
If you are looking for a home-remedy type of treament, try very mild back exercises. You can find descriptions and videos of these exercises on the internet. Also try stretching. Start out with light stretches, and do not do anything that hurts. Muscles usually hurt when they are pulled, not when they are used. If you can identify the source of pain, massage the spot frequently.
If the pain is coming from both sides of your lower back, it could be your kidneys. Kidney stones can cause terrible lower back pain, and usually have other symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, and excess sweat.

lie flat on your back with your head and limbs at the same height.i mean do not use pillow.stretch the whole part of the body and feel free like a corpse. take slow deep breath till your stomach bloats, then breath out in the same pace. do this for 10 times and t.at intervals of 6 to 8 hours twice a day, especially at night before going to bed.all the parts of your body get required oxygen and it will be a week later you will be alright but keep the regimen on later too for a permanent relief
