I was suffreing from anal abcess and was in huge pain. I underwent surgery last week in which the surgeon drained the anal abscess through incision leaving a wound which I think would take a long time to heal. During research I came to know that anal abscess cases mostly become anal fistulas which is more severe than abscess. How can stop becoming it to anal fistula and I am very afraid.

I'm sorry as I hate to give bad news but I believe that a person has the right to know the fact. There is no way to prevent an anal abscess from becoming an anal fistula. There is a 50/50 chance that it will happen and it can happen anywhere from a few weeks to even a few years. The reason that it can't be prevented is because there is no way of knowing what caused the original anal gland infection. Please do not worry or be afraid over a situation where you have no control. Just make sure you go to a doctor if you have a repeat of your prior symptoms. FYI, the symptoms for an anal abscess and an anal fistula are the same. Remember, catching the situation early is best for your treatment and recovery. Good luck!
