Question though... I have some fairy statues in my room... is this considered "Occultish" to Christians that wouldn't be allowed? I really like the statues/figurines...

Not unless you worship them as a supreme being.

As christians we do no worship fairies, however, having a fairy statue for decoration it´s totally ok.
I don´t know exactly the quote but in 1 Corintians, in chapter 9, there is a similar question about eating food that was offered to pagan gods....

Actually, any statuary would be consider idolatry - including many "religious" statues. It depends on what kind of church you go to as to whether anyone will have a problem with your fairy statues or not. More fundamental/orthodox churches are more likely to claim that something is of the occult than mainstream or ecumenical churches.

Can I ask why you've chosen to convert to Catholicism?

As long as the statues are decorations and not "idols," I don't thing there is a problem.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Well, I think I have the perfect solution for you:

You can just replace your "Fairy Statues" with "Mary Statues"!!! (wow, that one works even better than I had anticipated; it rhymes!) You can both look at them AND pray to them (just don't do both at the same time; that would be considered unholy. You have to bow your head).

You can also get St. Francis statues, St. Thomas statues, St. John statues... heck, if you convert to Catholicism, you'll probably end up with more statues than you know what to do with! And since you'll be expected to pray to all of them, it won't be considered occult for you to have them.

Question answered? I hope so!

No!

If they are items you like an not something you worship, why not keep them? Churchs and religion are suppose to guide you and not control you. Keep that in mind when you convert.

Also, don't be brainwashed into thinking a pope is a messenger of God. Popes are elected by a group of their peers the same way a president is. They are no more spiritual then you.

Good luck!

Good christian denomination. Good pastoral care.

What might be bad is if you have bought some wooden carved figures in Africa, as sometimes witch doctors put hexes and spells on them. (Whether those hexes are real or not I do not know.) But thats a matter for your personal choice in household decoration.

I am Roman Catholic. I think that any priest would tell you that the fairy statues are just artwork. It seems reasonable that it would be ok with God if you like pretty things. Oh, and please realize, we are Christian. Our Church is the oldest of all Christian churches.

Catholic churches are filled with statues. Isn't it strange that Moses destroyed every statue he could find and for years the catholics have been decorating their churches and cathedrals with drawings and statues of saints, jesus and mary?!
