I have been married for 4 years this Thursday, and when it is right you just know it. I only have one deal breaker and that is smoking. My husband was a smoker and after I knew( which was on our first date) that he was the one I told him I wouldn't be able to date a smoker and he quite. As for other things beauty fades as you get older and what you have left hopefully is love and friendship. I feel that you need to be attracted to someone physically but they don't have to be model gorgeous. I think that if you truly love someone it is easier to accept their flaws no one is perfect. I do believe you can love someone unconditionally but with in limits. I know that doesn't make sense, but if you love someone like that then they won't do things to hurt you, so it makes unconditionally easy.

I have certain criteria that I think i gravitate towards. My husband and all of my serous relationships in the recent past all have similar facial features... tall, dark eyes, dark hair, long eyelashes, and thick eyebrows and a really nice neck with a beautifully promient Adam's Apple. Under the surface though, they couldn't be more different!
I have always specified that I have no cooties, and I expect my man to not have cooties either...speaking in the terms of STD's. Now, if he were to contract some other type of illness during our time together, that is a different topic and I absolutely would stand by his side 100%. But if someone that I liked and was dating were to mention that they had the clap, or herpes, or HIV, or Syphillis, that would be a HUGE turn-off and I would leave money for the check and bid them Adieu!
Sorry, that's just how I am. Thankfully, my hubby didn't have cooties!! LOL

Not really.
Subconsciously I am attracted to a particular kind of person, which means I automatically ween some of those things out without even thinking about it. But if I really liked someone and they told me they were terminal ill, or they had an STD or they can't have children... whatever. I think I would just have to get over it. There is always a way to work around things. Even if the person you love is dying, it's better to spend that time with them, then not at all.

I've never been attracted to anyone not in my race - but I would not rule it out. I don't think I'd get involved with a guy that had a serious physical handicap - it's one thing if they have an accident after we are involved and end up with a handicap but it's difficult to start out that way. Never been attracted to a carrot top redhead or a guy that was bald - everything else is good. Any guy with HIV/AIDS I would not date.
