you would be 5 pounds heavier until it passed through your system.. how much weight you actually gain would depend on how much "sticks" to your body and how much passes through you.. 5 pounds of fruits and vegetables would definitately be better than 5 pounds of beef and fat! 5 pounds is a lot of food though regardless of what you're eating..

I got into a bad car accident a few years back and went from weighing 225 to 165 because of the injuries that i had..the hospital appointed a diet specialist for me to gain some weight back so i can help you with this question without any doubts ..in order to gain one pound you must eat five pounds of food..now if you eat only fruit you will not be eating any carbs so they are considered nutral foods you can eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want and the only thing you'll end up doing is spending alot of time on the toilet..the only vegetable that will get you up in weight is the potatoe..but everything else as a rule is 5lbs of food eaten will make you gain 1lb..good luck

If you eat 5 pounds of food you will not gin 5 pounds.. some of this will come out as waste and some will be spent as energy
What you eat will absolutely have a effect on how much you actually gain.. You will gain more on the meats and fats and less on the veggies and fruits First off becasue the meats and fats are harder to digest and are higher in calories and the veggies are easily passed and lower in calories.

No and no. That's not how it works. The body assimilates the nutrients in what you eat, and stores some while it burns others.
Any woman can tell you, that somehow you can eat a quarter pound of chocolates and put on five pounds!
The nutrients in fruit and veg are totally different from the ones in the beef and fat. The fat will probably get stored; veg and fruit are high in fiber so a lot of that would get eliminated.
Meat is protien and most westerners eat far too much of it.

You'll weigh 5 pounds more immediately until you either sweat it out, urinate whatever water was in it and/or have a BM.
The fruits and veggies will metabolize quicker than the beef & fat.
The long term effects depends on your activity level.

It takes 3600 calories to gain a pound. You would have to eat 18000 calories to gain 5 pounds (you would also have to factor in your bodies metabolism and exercise level to see how many of the calories you are burning instead of storing as fat). You don't just gain the same amount of weight of the food you are eating.

there are 3500 calories in a pound, in theory you would have to eat 17,500 calories to gain 5 lbs of fat.
Now if you ate ALOT foods that were average in calorie amount but high in salt then you would gain a couple of pounds of water weight. But they will come off if you lay off the high sodium snacks and eat more vegetables/fruits.

Well if you weigh yourself right after without going to the bathroom or throwing up, then yes you'll be 5 lbs heavier. However to actually gain that weight in fat, you'll have to actually have a daily gain of (3500 calories x 5) since it takes 3500 calories to gain one pound.

no, not unless you ate five pounds of food and it got stuck in your intestines. when you digest food you take nutrients out you will absorb some water as well. remember that you poo out leftovers from the digestion process. you need to replace nutrients because you use them up. so as you gain weight, you are loosing it as well. metabolism is what is constantly controlling your weight. when you move, exercise, even breath, you are burning energy.
so, the answer is no, if we gained weight from everything we ate then the average person would weigh thousands of pounds in a matter of 30 years.

No, the body produces waste in the small intestine, the large intestine, and ultimately the colon removed the liquid from the waste and then it's expelled by the normal means.
Only a portion of the food you ingest is actually absorbed by the body. This depends on your diet.
