You should take him to the vet for yearly checkups and shots anyway, while you are there ask the vet.
Twitching during sleep usually means a really great dream, my dogs do it all the time, I even see their eyes wiggle and sometimes my lab snorts.
Anyway.....loosing balance isn't that uncommon if you have seen any episodes of funniest home videos, but your cat may have an inner ear problem, or had been hit in the head at some point in his life which could lead to come cerebral damage, probably nothing to worry about.
My cat used to sit and look around turning her head almost 120 degrees, then she would fall over. She also would try to go thru my walls, doc said she probably had some sort of injury to her head when she was a kitten, but don't worry, mine is now 15 and getting healther everyday.

It depends on the degree to which he is twitching. It's normal for cats to twitch while they are sleeping, because they are having dreams and such and experience involuntary movement as humans do. My cats always twitch while they sleep. But if it is severe or violent then definitely get your cat checked out...its always better to be safe than sorry. As for the coordination part of your question, the whole cats landing on their feet always thing has to be a myth, because i've had clumsy cats in the past and there was nothing wrong with them. Good luck!

You are worrying too much. He is dreaming. He twitches just like a lot of humans do when they dream. Cats land on there feet when they know they are falling because they can use their tail and their body weight to right themselves. If they are unconscious they do not know until the last second that they are falling so there is no time to right themselves.

The twiching is normal, most cats do this.If you are worried alot about it take him to your vet. If you try to wake him up and he doesnt seem to wake during the twiching, or the twiching doesnt stop after he is awake then you may have some cause for concern. For the most part it just sounds like he is dreaming.

Twitching while sleeping is probably just dreaming - if it happened while he was awake, then I'd be concerned. As for landing on their feet, if they fall back-first, they have to fall from a certain minimum height (several feet) to be able to land on their feet - after all, it takes time to flip around!
Do, please, take him in for regular checkups and vaccines, especially if he ever goes outside or goes anywhere around other cats. If you're concerned about anything, you can mention it to the veterinarian during your appointment.

He's dreaming, so it's nothing to worry about. Cats don't always land on thier feet, they have ahigh chance of landing on thier feet when they fall from high places. But if they fall off of soemthing that doesn't give them time to flip around, they won't land on thier feet. You are definatley worring for no reason!
