Perhaps the Holocaust was God's test of humanity. Had we learned to step forward to protect others? How many of His children would participate in the atrocities? How long would it take His children to stop the atrocities? If He was testing us, we failed miserably. Failed again in the Armenian genocide. Failed again in the Rwandan genocide. And are we failing once more in the Darfur genocide? Words and prayers are not enough. We must be proactive in saving the thousands dying right now, today, in Darfur, Sudan.

Can we turn our backs on them because they're a different color, or because they worship another god? They are God's creation -- each and every one a precious being!

While humanity, as a whole, may have failed in these cases, there are many individuals who passed these tests with flying colors. When God speaks of a 'righteous remnant' it is these individuals of whom He speaks. People who, against all odds without concern for their own well being, step up and do the right thing.

Most of those who fit into this category never receive the credit their due, nor do they want it. Not everyone can be a King of Denmark, or an Oskar Schindler, or even a hotel manager in Rwanda...but we each have an opportunity to make our contributions...we simply have to choose to do so, even in the face of overwhelming opposing pressure.

I really do not think that people understand the nature of God. God is perfect. Yes, he is all-powerful. However, he is also perfectly just (as in justice). However, we have free agency. Had we not had free agency, this life could not have been a test to see if we are worthy to return to him. If everyone was forced to be good, then how could he separate the wheat for the tares (using a biblical reference)?

The problem with free agency that God (if God is to remain perfectly just) has to give it to us even if we abuse it. If God stepped in every time someone "participate in the atrocities", then our agency would be obstructed.

For example, to hold Hitler accountable for what he did, God cannot prevent the atrocities in Armenian. If he stopped the atrocities in Armenian, how can he satisfy justice, when holding Hitler accountable for the same sin? After all if he stopped the atrocities in Armenian, in a since, Hitler could argue that God could have stopped him, thereby keeping him pure and allowing him to return to heaven. Justice would demand that God prevent all atrocities if he stopped any of them at all, which would destroy free agency.

YES, he is all-powerful and he could do it if he wanted, but he knows that if he dose then the plan of salvation would be destroyed. Fortunately just because God can do it, does not mean he should or will.

Also, just because God does not stop atrocities does not mean he does not do anything about them. He withholds his blessing, so those that perform these atrocities do suffer. You notice that Hitler was destroyed. Those people who killed all those people in Yugoslavia are now facing justice. It may take time, but in the end, they will face true justice.

You have a very interesting notion and its admirable. It's interesting that the genocide is happening in Africa as we speak, and no one is doing anything about it. By the way, the Armenian genocide came before the Jewish Holocaust. When Hitler was speaking to his men, he would state "who actually remembers the Armenian genocide?" therefore, no one will remember the Jews.
I really think we need to do something about Darfur you guys!

No.

"God is love" <1 Jn 4>

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other peoples sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes." <1 Cor 13>

Prayer is our BEST choice. What, you want to put hope into Governments? It's the Government who is killing in Darfur. The UN doesn't care. A few in Hollywood care, but I don't see George Klooney forming a militia & charging in there. I guess I'd join him if he were to independanly fund and form this --- but I'm really not that good with guns ... hope he'd have training.

Humanity is only the religion. God has created us all and we are brothers and sisters. Of course we are being tested by Him in the atrocities. There is no doubt that we come forward to help each other in such situation irrespective of religion, nationality etc.

If you would take your time and read the New Testament you will find that yes God does test us everyday in everything we do. We make the dicisions but are they right or wrong? We all have a sprit and most of us know what is right or wrong after the fact. Read your Bible and you will find what you are looking for.

What you suggest requires military action and the world is war weary. Hundreds of thousands of troops would be necessary and the results would be the same as in Iraq. Intervention in a civil war by outside forces is rarely successful, and if anything it increases the body count. It is best to let God handle these affairs as he can see clearly what the future hold, whereas we can only speculate.

Yes. Bolshevik Jews slaughtered 65 million innocent White Christians between 1919 and 1940. The test is.... Who is sane enough to avoid treating these like victims? Perhaps they get to go to heaven.

I think your mistaken, God did not cause these things to happen to us. Because of our sinfull nature we as human beings are more inclined to do exactly opposite to what God wants in our life. Its not His fault its ours. When someone like for instance Hitler, who made an active choice to do the bidding of Satan, what can God do if someone chooses to follow Satan? As far as innocent people are concerned...I'm afraid that murder of innocent people is never going to stop as long as we live in this world.

How could you worship a god that would bring on horrible torure and death to his creation just to "test" us or prove a point. That would have to be some kind of sicko and how could you worship that sadist?

To "Giggly" who quotes god is a loving god, how about the OT quote "I am a vengeful god" "I am a jealous god..." Do you know where to find that??????
