Uh, have you ever watched the news???
No way you can take your firearm overseas. If you were traveling within the Country you could check it, and declare it with the airline. It has to be trigger locked, and in a locked case, and NO AMMUNITION can be brought. Plan on coming to the airport an extra hour early also when you do this.
But out of the Country. Do you want to go to prison in the Country you are traveling to when they catch it incoming or outgoing?
OR
in prison here when they catch it when you return home with it.
It will never make it carry on, you won't make the trip either if you try.

Well I hate to be the lone dissenter, but yes you can. You fill out a firearms declaration form, provide 2 forms of ID, you must provide a locked case for only the firearm and a trigger lock. The firearm will be inspected by the airline officials, checked to see if it is loaded. They then watch you place the trigger lock on it, then lock the case. It then gets a special lock like a red zip tie on it and if it can fit in your checked luggage you can put it in there. A sticker goes on the luggage that states a firearm is inside and it has been checked by the airline. From that point on you cannot touch your bag again, they take it and hand deliver it to the plane. You then arrive and have to pick up the case at the service center of the luggage carousel because they don't send it down the same as everyone else's. You provide ID again and your copy of the paperwork you previously filed out. Everything is compared and you take your bag and go.
I do it on a regular basis, but never on an overseas flight. Call the airline and check with them, they all have provisions for it.

Oversea's where? better check the gun laws for where your headed... Someplaces, having a gun will get you 20 yrs. Our good ol' neighbor to the south (ya don't even need to take a plane) get caught down there with just a single bullet and your going to jail... and I don't mean for a day or two. As for taking a firearm on a plane..... you have to claim it.... make sure the airlines know you have it.... now considering your taking a handgun and not a rifle or shotgun... I'd really think twice.... depending on the country your going to, maybe with exception to Iraq (then I'd just buy an AK 47 when I got there, $100-$150). I wouldn't be pack-in no bang bang.... If you do, good luck, write and let us know how it's going..... we can send you some cigarette's if you smoke....

You are kidding right?
OK. Yes, it is possible to pack a gun in a carry on bag to travel out of town. You will get into the airport, go to the metal detector where they X-ray your bag. Then they see the gun and they arrest you and throw your stupid butt in jail.
Now, if you unload the gun, put it in a check bag and tell the airline it is there, you will have no problem UNTIL you get off the plane overseas. Other nations are not as reasonable as the USA and they will arrest you and throw your butt in jail.

Pack it? Yes
Go to the airport? Yes
Get arrested trying to board the plane? Most likely.
Get inside the plane? No way.
Get your gun INTO another country without getting that country's permission OR a gun permit there? well... depends on the country and it's legal mess
Unless you speak with the other country's embassy to see if your gun permit is valid there and with the airline administration so they can tell you IF they can ship it in the cargo, I very much doubt you can take it... however, I would advise against leaving your gun on the hands of any unknown person, regardless of their status on the transport/security/government... you may find out one day that the gun was used while out of your sight. So... If I were you,I'd sell it and buy a new one in the other country (assuming they give you a license)

No you can not. There is a list of things that can no longer be taken in a carry on bag in a plane and a gun is at the top of the list. Call the airport and ask how to transport the gun and explain the reason for needing to take it with you.

Sure, if you're a federal air marshal, on official business, and carrying with the knowledge of the TSA and the airline.
You can declare that model 92 and ship it in the luggage hold, but how sure are you that you'll ever see it again? Also, are you sure that the next country will allow you to bring it in, or even own or carry a gun at all?
Be thankful for your American Second Amendment rights, and you'd better fight to keep them. U.S. Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-New York) has presented a bill to bring back the Clinton gun ban with even more restrictive provisions, no doubt with the backing of two left-wing New York Senators, Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer, who are notorious for their actions and propaganda against the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Firearms and Ammunition may not
be carried on by a passenger on an
aircraft. However, unloaded firearms
may be transported in checked baggage
if declared to the agent at checkin
and packed in a suitable container.
Handguns must be in a locked container.
Boxed small arms ammunitions
for personal use may be transported in
checked luggage. Amounts may vary
depending on the airlines.
There you go! Straight from the FAA

No not unless you want to get arrested. YOu need to have a valid permit and find if the country you are going to allows guns.
You can take a gun on a plane but you have to go thru a process and only an airline can tell you. What happens when you arrive in a foreign country and they decide to customs check you. HmmmGun OMG Jail!!

I can't imagine it, although putting it in your checked luggage with a trigger lock will possibly be acceptable. Make sure that you are permitted to bring it in to the new country as well - it's not much good if they confiscate it at customs. Can't say that I know for sure - the only way to really find out is to call the authorities for both the new country and airline security.
