Is sweet tea really fattening?

Sweetened tea does contain a considerable amount of sugar, and therefore calories. It is fine in moderation but can add to your weight if you drink more than maybe one glass a day.

Try making sweet tea and each time cut back a little on the amount of sugar, over time you can convert yourself to not needing nearly as much sugar and even cut it out completely. Or try using artificial sweetners either alone or combined with regular sugar to get the same sweetness but much better for you.

There are lots of foods that are low fat or Non Fat, and they are marketed to make it seem like they are not fattening. Some examples are sweet tea, soda pop, jelly beans, yogurt, etc. But these foods often contain a lot of sugar. And most people don't realize that sugar, when it's not used as energy, turns into fat cells. And unless you work out a lot during the day, that sweet tea will be fattening. But if you are a thin person, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's loaded with sugar. Simple sugars turn into fat, so yes, it's fattening.
