Hi Carly..
Ya I sure can help and would be happy to..

Been there, done that as they say..

This is from advice from my brother who is a psycho-analyst and from my personal battle with depression before..

Diet..eat healthily, take a multivitamin, and omega fish oils are helpful.

Exercise..cardio exercise like running walking cycling so on releease endorphins and help a lot..

Resist the temptation to lie in bed..get up and even go for a walk.

Dont bottle it up..tell a family member or friend how you're feeling..a problem shared is a problem halved..

Most importantly its important to get your doctor to refer you to a professional like a CLINICAL PYSCOLOGIST to discuss the condition and try to find out its cause..

NOTE I said Pyscologist NOT psychiatrist..

Pyscologists talk, explore they do Not prescribe drugs..

A pyscologist will work with u While you're on meds, IF u are, from your doctor. They're drive is to have u taking no meds.

I found cognitive therapy..keeping a diary of moods.. very useful in identifying negative thought patterns and changing them to positive ones.. we can learn to recognise and cope with stress and anxiety better..knowledge is power.

Also join a club, do something that makes u feel good to raise your confidence and self esteem

These are some practical tips I find good.

Feel free to email me if u need someone to chat to.I mean that

Good luck

Paul

i suffer from depression too. and when i do. i go to the scenic lawn where all the tourist go and bring my ipod. l lay out on the lawn and listen to music with my eyes closed. i feel the air blow thru my hair, i smell the spring season and enjoy the MOMENT. its not gonna change everything but for that moment, i feel good. and more of those moments make me better. think of this... if a doctor was to tell you have a week to live,..... think of all the time you wasted feeling stressed out and sad. Are your problems minor details? think about it. if they arent then im sorry but be strong. life changes for the better if you make it. take care!

If you are diagnosed with depression, this is far more than just having "the blues" . Getting on the correct medicine and STAYING on it will change your entire outlook on the world and everything you do every day. Don't try to diagnose yourself.

Well getting out in the sun can help. Talking to a counselor can help, but the medicine in conjunction with those will be the best bet.

Try this book, "Walking Your Blues Away" How to Heal the mind and Create Emotional Well-Being by Thom Hartmann. I just gave my copy away or I would ask for your e-mail to send you one.

Honestly, you must do everything you do not want to do. Don't want to go to work, GO. Don't want your mom to come over and visit, tell her to come. You have to force yourself to do what you would normally do because depression is a vicious cycle. You don't feel like going outside, than you gradually feel worse for not going outside....Keep your friends close and make them keep you busy. you will come through this
