I wouldn't say closer, but I think that the assignments God has planned for some people are more "important" and that can lead to an earlier awareness of God. By important I mean people that have a wide influence, somebody like Billy Graham. God has used him in a huge way, his life has impacted many many people. I would venture that from the beginning, God had set him apart.
I have a niece that was basically dead for the first 11 minutes out of the womb. She is 5 now and randomly will make comments about when she was with Jesus, or in heaven and then tell us something He said to her. It's weird, and we can't explain why she would even think to make that up. I believe that she had an experience when she was born and it has made her more sensitive to the Spirit from what I've seen in her.

Well, let's think about this. Let's say God is in some general direction out there in space. That seems like a reasonable Biblical Literalist interpretation, no?
So, if you are born at a time when the Earth is BETWEEN you and God, you are born far away from God. But, if you're born such that your part of the planet is facing whatever distant star Heaven is, you're born closer to God.
Also, if you're burn in a church, you're filled with the holy spirit.

Doesn't get closer than the KofG is "within you".
Such would include the King of said "kingdom".
Problem is, Mystery of God is, which God of Two?
You may choose only 1, of 2 options: Law vs Grace.
Neither find lukewarm acceptable; So hot or not, eh.
Friend: "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee".
Enmity: "I will forsake you", the city, your fathers.

It's game on, and it's notably 'shewdown' time now:
The Third Day is The Seventh Day is The Last Day.
Which of 2 last day choices do you want for eternity?

How far do you(all KofG within you) wanna go in Rev'tn?
If: after Revelation 13's Law<-Law, all hell breaks loose.

No. We grow closer to god.
I think some people are born with personalities that enable them to have a deeper recognition of the love that god has for us.
Some people are too stubborn to open their minds to that even being a possibility.

I believe that people with disabilities, such as: Mental Retardation, Mental Ilness, and Physical Disabilities are born closer to God. They need Him in their lives more than those without challenges.

Many are called but few are chosen. Check out the doctrine of election, where God predestines people to salvation before the foundations of the world.
This doctrine flies in the face of many Christians who believe they have a choice to "accept" God. Scripture proves God makes the choice not you.

No.
But, God has already called those who will be saved from the beginniing of Creation. THat info, however, is not available to us, unless you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour -- then you know that you are saved.
