My husband and I were watching Patton (with George C. Scott) and General Omar Bradley had shoulder insignia. It had an AF. I asked my husband what that was??? and for the first time in my 26 years of marriage he couldn't answer a WWII question. Does anyone out there no what that stands for?? We know AA stands for airborne. Thanks

Ok, the AF patch stood for Allied Forces.

It was the shoulder patch worn by those in the Allied Expeditionary Force in North Africa and Italy in early WWll.

If you don't get an answer then it could be a made up one from Hollywood. Back when that movie was made, the movie makers had to change a lot of uniforms and tags so not to enumerate a real military uniform.
