I have a burning in the back of my throat. It has been happening for about 3 weeks now. It lasts for about 10 seconds at a time and happends 3-5 times a day. I have not changed my diet at all. Really I eat the same junk that I always have. A little about me, I do not drink soda, but do drink beer, I chew tobacco, meals are usually take out or fast food.
I have tried Maalox today and it seemed to help a little

Any ideas on what it is? How to fix it? Whats causing it?

Hi roy. I have acid reflux, and it comes from my bad diet habits and from stress.I saw my DR about it because i was taking crazy amounts of tums and rolaids to control it.My DR.put me on a pill called pariett. This has solved my problem completely. I would suggest that you give up the tobacco, but,I would never come between a man and his beer.

This is GERD gastro esopgaial refex disease due to the type of diet ur r eating since long time. The Acid produced instomach refux back in esopgaus ( food pipe ) due to poor valvular control at esophagus & stomach junction .So u shud stop junk food & tobacco & fast foods bcoz they are unhealthy in lot more ways than only reflux esopgaitis. Take some Omiprazole or pantaprozole & bland diet.

It sounds to me like you do have reflux but it's due to the fat in the food that you eat...when we eat alot of fatty foods our digestive system has to produce extra acid to break down these fats..so your system becomes hyperactive..the best thing for you to do is raise the head of your bed 6 inches so as to keep the acids from reaching the throat..and also eat a few table spoons of yogurt after having a fatty meal..there are many reasons for reflux acid it could be your esophagus is damaged from acid..it could be stress and it could be diet..you may need to talk to your family doctor and have what they call an uper G.I done..this is pretty easy test .they make you drink a stuff called Barrium it's white and chalky not to bad then they x-ray your chest and stomack..good luck bud

Its probably not acid reflux. You may have a throat irritation from the toabcco, or it could be worse and be the beginnings of cancer. See a doc asap.
