Do animals have cancer?

Question

For example, people have all sorts of cancer: breast, colon, skin, etc... Why do you think people get theses cancers? Do you think maybe because all the products we are producing or eating can cause these cancers. For example, a monkey who is similar to a human, however eats natural things does not get cancer..any feedback would be helpful

Very interesting subject. Humans look after themselves no where near as well as animals. Bad diets are known to cause cancer, and it could be that animals don`t get cancer very often because they eat only natural food which is good for them where as a human who eats a bad diet eats all kinds of unhealthy food which can give them cancer. Sometimes animals get cancer to though, but yeah not very often that we know of. Some animals might die of cancer and we don`t know that they have it.

Where in the world do people get the idea that animals and plants don't have cancer. Cancer is an ancient disease, not a new disease at all. All living cells no matter if they are plant or animal can develop cancer. In fact we use animals to test cancer treatments.

As for monkeys, of course they get cancer . . no matter what they eat they still get it. It is believed that some viruses (such as AIDS) may have originated in monkeys and was passed on to humans.

i work at a veterinary clinic and have had many a dog come into the clinic with cancer. unfortunately there arent as many outlooks for dogs with cancer. cats can get feline leukemia. some people believe man gets cancer from specific foods like red dye #40, others think it is our interaction with our pets. scientists researching cures do not have any idea as of right now.

Yes, animals get cancer--except for sharks. They don't get cancer. Ever. No exceptions.

And in humans, there is no heart cancer. You can not find a doctor who has treated a heart cancer victim, with only one or two exceptions, for bizarre genetic abnormalities.

Animals can have cancer too. Just like people can have cancer. Some do and some don't. My brother's dog had cancer, and was treated for it. He seems fine now.

Most cancers are caused by a combination of genetic and environmental reasons. Animals commonly get and die from cancer. Including sharks, to head off that answer.

yes animals get cancers also,,my friends dog had bone cancer and it got to be too painful and she had to get him put to sleep,my cousin which was really healthy was cleaning offices after a flood in Des moines iowa.with all the mud and sludge and no protective gear she now lays in a nursing home 'she can't eat 'can't walk or talk...she has m.s, and the doctor said she got it working in all that flooded building with mold and sludge..she has a son now with no mom and her husband left 1month after she got in the home...my aunt is 65 and she is his grandma/mom.....cancer and ms need to find cures soon .probably not in my lifetime but hopefully 1day,,,,,,,,
