In most cases it's a sign of affection.

That's how my cat will beg for food when everyone's at the dining room table. And no one's safe he loves every one when there's food around. LOL.

A Head butt is where the cat will hit you with it's head, then they will usually rub their face on you. My cats used to butt me with their head to get my attention. Cats could do this for a lot of different reasons, but I'd say to get your attention and to show you some affection.

A head butt usually means a sign of affection. They take their little head, maybe head down, and tap you with the top of the head or side of the face. This is to show you how much they like you. Usually they will like to be petted and rubbed for awhile. That is, until they decide that is enough.

Head butt means the cat wants attention....mine does this first thing in the morning to wake me up so I will feed him his breakfast and then he does it when I get home to say hello. It's cute.

Cats have scent glands on the tops of their heads by their ears. He's just making sure his scent is on you so other cats know that he "owns you", the same way he does when he rubs the side of his face on you. It's a sign that you've been accepted as part of his family. 8)

Cats have scent glands somewhere on their heads, and they are marking you as their own. (Your kitty loves you!)

I won't call myself a cat expert, I'm new with cats. I'm not 100 percent sure but I am 95 percent sure...
