You should apply for unemployment until you get another job, I'm not sure about the rules but it can't hurt to try. Also you may want to find out what rules apply for leaves of absence for family emergencies. My former boss got six weeks off for a family emergency it may be some sort of law, and it may only apply to immediate family.

I don't think so. They give you only one week of and you needed more than that. Why are you didn't talk to your supervisor and tell them this situation. Perhaps you can have some more days of without payment. Just try to find out by the unemployment office and tell them the whole story. I wish you good luck...

I say definitely call them and see if they would rehire you. It would be very hard to collect unemployment unless where you worked is very leniant on that sort of stuff because technically you turned down an offer to work by quitting so technically they have the right to deny unemployment.

What you should have done was take your week and then called in a request a short leave of absence. You could have had your job and a pay check from disability. I don't know if they will rehire because you did walk out . That is insubordination. Good Luck. So sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope she is doing better.

you could probably reapply and if you were a good employee they may hire you back. however if you quit without a 2 week notice then you will not get unemployment. and they will not hire you back.
