My partner of 16 yrs has fell in love with man in another country. All this has taken place via the internet and phone and so has never met this guy. We have two young children together and she says that she loves me but is currently not in love with me. She wanted to take my two children away from me to be with this guy who could have been anybody, this I would not allow. The romance all started two months ago and I knew nothing of it until my life as I knew it ended on valentines day when she dropped the bombshell that our marriage was over. I am physically and emotionally drained, my wife is my my life and my entire world. I have so much love left in my broken heart for her its an impossible situation. She has now said that she messed up big time and is willing to try again. The problem is Ido not know if she is staying because she genuinely wants to try, or is trapped here because of the children. My 10 year old and myself are petrified that history will repeat itself, please help

Wow,that is one heck of a stesser.
Uhhmm..seeing that you have children with her,it makes everything more intense because you are looking out for their best interest. So if you do end up going your seperate ways (but let's hope for the best) if you think your children will seriously be better off with you, then that's the end of it. But it isn't completely up to you, of course.
And with your wife, I think she just went through a self-doubt phase, where she didn't understand why she is where she is and thought that she needed something new. It happens to a lot of people. But she did admit to being wrong, and does want another chance, and I think you should give her one. I mean it may take some time for you to get over the whole ordeal, but if you love eachother that much things will blow over. Just talk to her and get your feelings out,and listen to what she has to say too. I wish you all of the best :]

Your ONLY option at this point is counseling for you both. It will help you deal with the situation and learn to trust again, and it will help her realize that she has too much invested in the life she has. There are counselors who will see you based on your income, or even free in some circumstances. Check with your local mental health office. Good luck.

History will repeat itself. Shame on you for making someone your whole life and entire world. You put yourself in a position of no control. Be strong and end this thing before it gets worse

She genuinely wants to stay with you. Falling in "love" over the internet is insane, and sometimes women get crazy.

I am not sure you need to be in the type of situation. It is so sad that the kids have to go through this. Best of luck in the future.
