bump into him and say you have lost your phone (but get someone to hold it for you) then ask if he would call it for you and see if any body answers it but tell your friend to say its with the reception when he hangs up say thank and go get it when you have your phone back look in received calls and you will have his number go back to him say thanks and offer to buy him a drink then you can get his name and log it in

This is cheesy but it works... tell him you think your phone isn't working ask if you could borrow his phone to call it, or if he would call it, to see if its working. Then you'll have his number and he'll have yours!
